Meet Mark Perry

Mark Perry is a painter residing in New York City and East Hampton NY. Born and raised in Providence RI. Perry studied Portraiture and Life Drawing, Evening Division at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), while working for ten years as an Electrical Draftsman for an architectural engineering firm in Providence.

In 1987, Mr. Perry entered the Providence Art Club’s “Open Painting Show” and won the Milton Halladay prize for his portrait, “Bonnie.” He also worked weekly with a small private group (most affiliated with or RISD alumni) throughout his twenties. In 1989, Perry moved to NYC and continued his studies at The Society of Illustrators and the Spring St. Studio. During this time He began spending time in Amagansett, leaving figurative work behind and entering the next phase which became his passion, the landscape.

In 2008, Perry received his first solo exhibition at the Surface Library Gallery in Springs, East Hampton. He became a member of the Artists’ Alliance of East Hampton and for years was part of their annual studio tour.

Perry’s paintings have since been in solo and group shows and Art Fairs in NY, Houston and East Hampton. He has had local press for his solo shows, work featured in national art and design magazines as well as paintings featured in sets for one major motion picture.

In July 2017, Perry is preparing for a solo show at the Quogue Library, Quogue NY.
