10 Things you should know about cross-continental duo RICKY DIETZ

Composed of Pierre Baigorry and Toronto-born singer Sway Clarke, RICKY DIETZ is a riotous collaboration between two celebrated artists from different parts of the world and different musical backgrounds.

The cross-continental duo have joined forces with Jamaican dancehall favourite Busy Signal on new single ‘Yo Rhonda’, out now. In true RICKY DIETZ style, ‘Yo Rhonda’ is an infectious, full-frontal dose of global dance energy, combining rapid-fire beats with vibrant percussion and Busy Signal’s distinctive vocals.

Shot in Kingston, the similarly high-spirited official video features the artists vibing amongst an all-female dance troupe.

On the collaboration, RICKY DIETZ comments:

“We figured we’d start off the year with something fast enough to take us out of the winter slump. And it was only right that we go all the way to Jamaica to bang this one out with Busy Signal himself!”

10 Things You Should Know About Ricky Dietz

1) The name Ricky Dietz is an amalgamation of two stereotypical Jamaican and German names. We could have went more hardcore, but come on, who wants to read that.

2) All songs are original written in German and then transcribed to English.

3) While writing and recording “Don’t Touch My Face” in a secluded cabin in Brandenburg, Germany, both members of Ricky Dietz coincidentally contracted Covid-19.

4) The duo wrote an algorithm called “The 50/50 Ingredient”, in which they use to calculate the percentage of either parties cultural influence on any given song.

5) The dance crew M.I.K are not simply hired guns, but part of the outfit.

6) Sway Clarke is a stunt double actor for a famous actress in which he legally bound not to disclose.

7) Two of the favourite bands are Queen (Pierre) and Radiohead (Sway).

8) Pierre once balanced a soup spoon on his nose for a 2,5 hour recording session.

9) Sway has psychosomatic trauma with eggs.

10) Don Papa Rum in the drink of choice in the studio.
