A variety of styles, creating an original sound: ‘Equanimity’ is the debut album from emerging Vocalist/Producer Spener

Spener

Few names are establishing themselves so firmly in the world of music like Spener, and 2022 will see the release of his highly anticipated debut solo album ‘Equanimity’. With features from ‘Rob Bradley’ (formally Jack Flash) and ‘Beit Nun’, the album blends a variety of styles, creating an original sound but with some familiarity in there. Spener’s recognisable voice cements the album together and gives it a feeling of continuity, despite it’s range of styles and influences.

Haling from Macclesfield in the North West of England, the multi-talented solo artist takes listeners on a compelling journey of introspection and social narrative. His sound has Indie Rock roots, but draws on neo-soul, jazz and hip hop. He blurs the line between singing and rapping and transitions between each discipline as and when the music requires.

With his former band ‘The Gracies’, Spener was the lead singer and lyrics man, releasing 2 E.Ps and 1 album with the band. Since the bands hiatus over the last 5 years, Spener has not stopped working in the studio and the new album is the end product of this transitional process. Still working with Tom Morris, lead guitarist of ‘The Gracies’, the sound has evolved since the band days, and Spener is now experimenting with both singing and rapping, and manages to blend the two together seamlessly.

With recent album release, the next challenge will be for Spener to start playing the songs in a live format so keep an eye out for gigs later this year.

‘Equanimity’ is available now via Apple Music, Spotify and all major platforms.
