How and when did you decide to pursue a future in music?
I have written songs since I was very young and I guess I’ve always had one eye on becoming a musician. Initially I set up a production studio in Singapore called The Singing Bush. We wanted to create interesting music videos, I guess I got tired of making them for other people!
What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
I’m influenced by artists such as Massive Attack, Portishead, Morcheeba and Hooverphonic. However my songs tend to have a more classic pop structure than those bands. I think you could call it Trip-pop!
What inspires you to make music?
Life, people, love, heartbreak, stories, situations. Music is my response to so many things that life throws at me and my environment affects the way I express myself. Sometimes I could just hear a chord, or even a note. A picture, art of any kind. I used to be an actress and would play different characters. This enables me to become other people and write songs from their perspective.
Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organisations?
No, I’m an independent unsigned artist. I’m part of PRS and Sentric. Now that I’ve moved to London permanently I’m looking for representation here.
Where have you performed?
I’ve performed at Sziget Festival and Be My Lake Festival in Hungary. Now that I’ve moved to London I’m looking for local musicians who I can perform the songs from my EP with live.
Can you tell us about the new material you are working on now?
I’m developing a number of songs and I suspect some of them will make it onto my first album. The truth is, I’m always writing. The challenge is to pause long enough to share what I create along the way! The next video I’ll release is for a song called Just Like the Movies. It is a love song and I shot the music video on a canal boat in East London.
What’s your ultimate direction? Are you seeking fame and fortune?
Ultimately I want to make a living making music. I’ve often think about quitting but I always come back to it. Music is what I’m best at and what I was born to do. I’m not seeking fame, but just seeing where my music will take me. I’m living my dream.
How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
Yes, You can find my music on my website, YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud etc.
Any last words?
