Review: 99 Problems is a new body of work from celebrated Urban artist Day-Z

On Thursday 19th October 2017, two of our writers had the opportunity to attend the Day-Z ’99 Problems’ solo exhibit at Beautiful Crime Gallery at Jealous in Shoreditch.

Last year, Day-z was named as one of the ‘9 Artist’s to Look Out For’ by After Nyne magazine and in 2015 she was awarded the Derwent Art Prize ‘People’s Choice Award’.

The exhibit focuses on the new era whilst simultaneously exploring themes of contemporary, social and political culture with a provocative approach. Day-Z has become known for her tongue-in-cheek interpretation, perfectly finding the balance between activism and comedy.

Day-Z’s art felt like a breath of fresh air with her signature style of drawing which we felt was very unique in the art scene at the moment.

“Day-Z’s works for this show reveal her impeccable technical ability in drawing, but also her ability to tackle the charms and tribulations of popular culture in Western 21st Century.”

Prices range from £100.00 to £10,000 with pieces of art that has something for everyone. We would highly recommend for everyone to attend this exhibition and we’re excited to see what Day-Z comes up with in the future!
