4-piece rap collective 2U4U have harnessed their relaxing chemistry to produce their newest release ‘HOME’

4-piece rap collective 2U4U, consisting of ATMA, My Rugema, Ranbir & badcal have harnessed their relaxing chemistry to produce their newest release ‘HOME’, released on the 1st December.

Inspired by the experiences of group members My Rugema and badcal, who both experienced the struggle of growing up with families hailing from different countries and the internal conflict of finding somewhere they feel at home. HOME is a personal track that highlights a complicated struggle, for something as simple as a home.

2U4U’s original members ATMA and My Rugema initially met in school where they bonded over classic music production of classic neo-soul albums. After some time apart due to study commitments, ATMA’s older brother Ranbir joined the group and they achieved their first break-through centred around their remix of A Tribe Called Quest’s single 1nce, which achieved relative success after it was picked up on and spun by BBC1xtra DJ Benji B. The trio soon recognised that they wanted to further develop the group, and listed concise and unique South London lyricist, badcal, who brought with him a dynamism and colourfully varied vocabulary which completed the foursome, 2U4U.

Working towards a thematically-driven rap musical concept with nuances of jazz and pop, influence from A Tribe Called Quest can be heard throughout their newest single along with the earlier influences of the music production of Erykah Badu’s ‘Baduizm’ and D’angelo’s ‘Voodoo’. After a summer feeding their creative-streak, 2U4U’s resulting songs went out to renowned sound engineers, Aaron Ahmed (Adele), Dawit Kennedy (A Tribe Called Quest) and Kelly Hibbert (J-Dilla and Madlib).

Their forthcoming release HOME is the first release is leading up to the release of their first single from their debut EP, set to be available from mid-2018. For more information about the foursome and to stay up to date with their future releases, follow their social media accounts.
