Another certified cult classic: ‘Daddy Don’t Want This’ is the latest release from UK rap artist, Kofi Stone

UK hip hop has never been in a more exciting state. With the advent of all things grime and hip hop in the international blogosphere this year, Kofi Stone emerges to stake his claim as one of the UK’s most vibrant and naturally talented young emcees.

Following on from his critically-acclaimed releases “Stories in Pyjamas” and “Nothin’ Ain’t Free” this year – picking up support on key UK early-adopters GRM Daily, Linkup TV and Consequence of Sound, Kofi comes through with another certified cult classic in “Daddy Don’t Want This”.

Bringing the kind of classic hip hop sound beloved to conscious hip hop heads on both sides of the Atlantic, Kofi tempers this with a lyrical invention and bounce that brings serious and thrilling comparisons to some of the best in the UK game. With a slick chorus from Kalu bringing neo-soul flecks to a golden era sound, Kofi is already showcasing his ability to move towards new terrain.

Born in East London and raised in Birmingham, the young rapper grew up on a diet of Nas, Common, Lupe Fiasco, 50 Cent and Kanye West. However Kofi’s is a distinctly classic UK flow that’s seen the young rapper already in the studio with the cream of the new generation UKHH beatmakers Rebel Kleff (Loyle Carner) and Jake Milliner (Hawk House).

Speaking on the track, Kofi states: Plainly speaking, Kofi is one of the most joyfully talented and exciting young rappers we’ve come across in a long time. Get ready to read a lot more about him.
