AMBR is a nineteen-year-old singer songwriter from Surrey. Her mum’s family is Welsh and music is a big part of the culture there; you can’t escape it. ‘My granddad used to sing in all the clubs and would sing around the house, which I always loved. My dad also has great music taste and used to sing me to sleep with Cat Stevens so music was always around me.’
Currently studying songwriting at BIMM in Brighton, AMBR originally studied vocals but quickly changed to songwriting. ‘I love the freedom of writing songs as I am able to combine my love of lyrics and melodies and really be able to perform songs from the heart. My music influences include Halsey, The 1975, Lorde, Amy Winehouse and many more.’
When asked what has been a memorable highlight?, AMBR explains ‘I was invited to perform on BBC Introducing. To be playing my songs live on BBC radio was a very special, nerve-wracking and exciting time. Getting on BBC Introducing has been a real dream of mine for years. I’ve seen loads of artists I love be discovered that way and so this year I decided I really was going to try my best to get on the show. I still can’t believe I’ve now been track of the day quite a few times and done a live session for them.’
‘What A Mess You Made’ is available now from all major digital outlets.
