Introducing award winning bassist and composer, Daniel Casimir

Daniel Casimir attended the Birmingham Conservatoire between 2008-2012 where he studied the double bass under the tuition of Mark Hodgson and Arnie Somogyi. During his time there Daniel was also taught by legendary bassist Dave Holland and received several performance opportunities including the Trondheim jazz festival and a project with Saxophonist Chris Potter.

Deciding to further his skills as an improviser and composer Daniel completed a Masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, supported by scholarships from the Savile Club and Help Musicians. Whilst there he participated in public Conservatoire performances at Ronnie’s Scott and the Southbank Centre as part of the London Jazz festival.

Daniel has performed and recorded with; Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello, Benet Mclean, Lonnie Liston Smith, Nathan Facey, Shane Forbes, Chihiro Yamanaka, Ashley Henry, David Lyttle, Nubya Garcia, the Clark Tracey Quintet (Meantime, Jubilation), Tom Harrison (Unfolding in Tempo), Jasmine Power (Stories and Rhymes) and Camilla George and Art Blakey Jazz messenger Saxophonist Jean Toussaint in 2017.

An award winning bassist Daniel was named winner of The Musicians’ Company’s Young Jazz Musician Award 2016 – 2017 and last year released his debut album, Escapee.

Daniel Casimir has become a regular fixture within the UK jazz scene; signed to Jazz Re:freshed he joins the likes of Nubya Garcia and Ashley Henry. He plays with passion and power that shines through not only in his compositions but also in the energy he brings to his live performances.
