McKay x McCourt are a south-coast based commercial R&B duo that consists of UK songwriter and producer MCK from the Lovemade Collective along with rising UK RnB artist Thomas Gerard. Having studied under the tutelage of current industry professionals such as Steven Wilkinson (Ellie Goulding, Skepta, The Rolling Stones), John Gallen (Queen, Rick Ashley, Billy Ocean) and Matt Russell (Coldplay, Take That, Metallica), both members are knowledgeable in their respective roles.
Within the group dynamic, McKay is the producer and McCourt is the artist, however both can sing and produce records on their own; which makes their roles seamlessly interchangeable. At 19 years old, debuting their joint career with a red-hot 3 track EP named “1157,” this R&B act are brimming with potential and positive energy, and it is only a matter of weeks before they are set to make a real impact.
Hailing from Dundee, Scotland, Gerard left home in hope of collaboration and opportunity for lack of a “contemporary” scene back home. Here is where artist meets producer MCK who allowed Gerard to take things to the next level as soon as they stepped into the studio together.
Influenced by fellow UK artists Craig David, Jorja Smith, Ella Mai and Sampha as well as others such as Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, PARTYNEXTDOOR and ELHAE – the pair are heavily influenced by a wide range of R&B stars who they take inspiration from in an effort to create something totally unique that the UK has never seen before.
“1157” is available from Apple Music and all major digital outlets now.
