Lo-fi alternative-soul: ‘Thru the Mirror’ is the debut release from UK singer-producer, Veda Black

Behind the pseudonym VEDA BLACK is 23 year-old Corinne, South East London based singer-producer, who gathers element of classic Soul, Hip Hop & 90’s RnB that fuse into a ‘lo-fi alternative-soul’ with ruthless lyrics and a “take no prisoners” attitude. Raised by her mother, Annemarie, a dressmaker and fashion designer from Jamaica, Corinne was bought up to appreciate her Caribbean roots and her power as a woman.

Her debut single “Thru the Mirror” has been released on May 25th and got the support from BBC Radio 1xtra’s Jamz Supernova as well as editors from magazines like EARMILK and Indie Shuffle who have also endorsed the artist.

Musical inspiration for the song comes from artists like Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak, Other strong reference points for VEDA BLACK are Donny Hathaway, Pink Floyd, Minnie Riperton and Destiny’s Child.

The song is the first of four releases planned throughout the next 12 months, with 3 more tracks following up the first single, that will eventually be part of her debut EP.
