Liverpool Fashion Week shows held at The British Music Experience, Cunard Building 8-9 October 2018

“Music and fashion are always our passion”

Liverpool, the city with a rich heritage of music, celebrates Liverpool Fashion Week with two nights of cutting edge style when it returns for the ninth year in October at its prestigious music museum.

Models will walk alongside exhibitions including fashion pieces worn by some of the industry’s iconic pop stars including The Spice Girls.

As always Liverpool Fashion Week champions stylish, individual designs as Liverpudlians lead the way in commissioning bespoke handmade pieces for a regular weekend night out. The shows also encourages fashion for everyone, regardless of size, gender or ethnicity. Hence fashion designers are drawn to the city to showcase their collections in front of an audience keen to wear something elegant and classy that’s not been seen in the shops and ahead of them.

Leading the way in red carpet glamour is evolving label Studio 149, originally from India but launching in the UK this autumn. African inspired brand, Tobams Colours use unique wax print fabric to create a vibrant collection of day to day wear

This season, Liverpool Fashion Week draws attention to mental health issues. Richard Gair of GoGairy Hand Painted Leathers has recovered from a double organ transplant and severe depression to design a collection of self painting “doodle” jackets for art therapy, as well as a collection of positive affirmation jackets.

New clothing line UR is dedicated to creating a positive conversation around mental health, with 50% of the profits going to local mental health charities. The popular New Talent night opens up the floor for emerging designers including graduate Bethany Hilton, handbag and matching clothing designer And Read and couture label What’s Your Skirt, taking inspiration from the 1950s.

The high street is represented by Boux Avenue, Peacocks and Benetton ensuring that Liverpool Fashion Week does not compromise on style but has a budget to meet everyone’s demands.
