Introspective alt-pop: ‘Oil and Water’ is the latest release from UK singer-songwriter and pianist, Lorne

Lorne is a singer, songwriter and pianist from Berkshire who released his debut EP Maze in November 2017. Now approaching 1m streams on Spotify, ‘Maze’ has received support from BBC Introducing, 6 Music and Music Week.

Lorne’s debut single ‘Bread Alone’ was described by CLASH as “affecting acoustic song craft” and Lorne himself as “an assured talent, someone who could evolve into something special”.

Premiering on Music Week, Lorne’s second single ‘Oil and Water’ achieved a spot on major Spotify playlist ‘Easy’. Introduced to Peter Gabriel in his teens, Lorne was taken by Gabriel’s sound and notes the musician as the main influence behind his music. Also drawn to artists such as Brandon Flowers and Damien Rice, Lorne’s attraction to melodic pop and rock is evident in his ideas.

Lorne performed on the BBC Introducing stage at Henley Festival in July and has headlined at notable singer-songwriter venues in London such as Ronnie Scott’s and The Troubadour.
