Following on from his critically-acclaimed releases “Stories in Pyjamas”, ‘Nothin’ Ain’t Free’ and ‘Daddy Don’t Want This’ last year – picking up support both sides of the Atlantic with COMPLEX, GRM Daily, Afropunk and Consequence of Sound all recognising a truly exciting new talent, Birmingham-based rapper Kofi Stone drops his most anticipated track yet with ‘Same Old’.
With an intimate, confessional yet supremely polished visual, Kofi delivers arguably his finest and most complete offering yet – again crafting his own brand of thoroughbred, emotive hip hop with levels of lyricism and bounce that will continue to demand serious comparisons to some of the brightest emerging talents in UK rap right now.
2018 was certainly a milestone one for the rising artist: following only a couple of releases, Kofi found himself supporting the likes of Easylife, Ady Suleiman and Bilal before a standout performance on the NOISEY stage alongside Ebenezer, Slowthai and Octavian at The Great Escape.
Raised in Birmingham, Kofi’s is a distinctly vivid UK flow that’s seen the young rapper already in the studio with the cream of the new gen beatmakers including Rebel Kleff (Loyle Carner) and Jake Milliner (Hawk House).
With his debut mixtape “Nobody Cares till Everyody Does” set to drop this spring, Kofi is one of the most clearly talented, exciting young rappers coming up – his addition to the NOISEY bill is testament to his rising reputation in the scene and with “Same Old” Kofi looks set to cement that claim. Look out for this one.
‘Same Old’ is available now from all major digital platforms.
