Who is Bellah? How old are you and where are you from?
I’m a singer-songwriter from London of Nigerian descent.
At what age did you start singing?
I started singing when I was about 4 or 5 because my mum put me in theatre schools. I started doing musical theatre at a young age and fell in love with performing.
When you realise your talent how did you go about getting your music out there?
Truth is, I actually feel as if other people realised my talent for me. I just had a genuine passion for singing and performing. My managers found me at a local festival five years ago and encouraged me to work on my craft and that’s how we got here.
‘Never Loved’ has been on repeat for us, but what was the meaning behind it? Has it got any personal meaning?
I wrote Never Loved when I felt like I wasn’t getting closure from a previous relationship. So, it’s literally just about me trying to answer my own questions and failing haha but it was a good venting session.
How would you describe your overall sound?
To be completely honest with you, I have no clue. I create music according to how I feel and that changes so often.
How do you go about finding inspiration for new music? Does social media influence you at all?
I sit down and listen and re-listen to albums. Mostly bodies of work by artists that I admire.
We’re loving the sound of your new single ‘Peanut Butter Hazel’. If you could remix this with any artist. Who would it be?
I think Kehlani would be so perfect on this song.
Who would you love to collaborate with on future projects?
I would love to work with Khalid, Kehlani, Ty Dolla $ign just to name a few.
What’s Bellah favourite song at the moment? What’s on repeat?
No Guidance by Chris Brown & Drake. I listen to this everyday without fail.
Are you working on anymore new music that we should be anticipating?
I am! Look out for it!
What is your ultimate goal in music?
I want to sell out arenas, get a couple (a lot) of no.1 singles and I want to inspire others. As long as my music is serving a purpose then I’m happy.
‘Peanut Butter Hazel’ is available now from all major digital platforms.
