A slow-burning Caribbean influenced jam: ‘No Fears’ ft. Wretch 32 is the latest release from emerging artist and producer, 169

Following his recent critically-acclaimed tracks “Crazy” ft. Jaz Karis and “Shine” ft. Infamousizak, 21 year-old artist and producer 169 (aka Tyrell Paul) drops a serious new jam “No Fears” – featuring one of the most iconic rappers in the city in Wretch 32.

“No Fears” emerges as a slow-burning Caribbean influenced jam and also an assertion of considered, wise movements in the music industry and in life. It’s a sleek banger and explicit gem-dropper that underlines 169’s thrilling combination of wisdom and finesse. With a trademark exemplary 16 bars from Wretch, it’s a lesson in how they’re both moving right now.

As a producer, it’s no exaggeration that 169 has blazed one of the most remarkable paths in the UK right now: working extensively with #1 UK rap star Dave (a close school friend from Streatham, South London) they started making music together and 169 would go on to produce the classic track “Thiago Silva” for Dave and AJ Tracey. Tyrell and Dave then wrote Dave’s ‘Six Paths’ EP together, including the hit “Wanna Know” that US superstar Drake would go on to co-sign and release together.

169 has since gone on to become one of the youngest go-to hit producers in the scene, with recent #1 hit “Funky Friday” with Dave and Fredo and Headie One’s “18Hunna” both with his signature on it. Mastering the recent official “Top Boy” soundtrack establishes just how integral he’s become to the scene at just 21.

In his own right as an R&B artist, it’s been a similarly considered and curated upward trend – with the kind of standout vocal talent shown on “Crazy” and “Shine”, “No Fears” continues to showcase 169’s remarkable vocal repertoire alongside one of the most respected artists in the scene.

With his debut project on the horizon, 169 continues to make serious statements of intent that will only increase the sense of a precocious talent on the cusp of something huge.
