What inspired you to begin a career in music?
I was on my way to a College basketball game and randomly decided to write a poem. After I finished I was shocked at how good it was and showed a teammate. He was also shocked. That’s when I knew it was what I was born to do. I committed that day.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Tupac, Michael Jackson, Elvis
What differs you and your sound from other artists in the music industry?
What differs me, besides lyrics is the energy behind what I say and how I say it. You can literally feel it.
We are really feeling your latest release ‘Dear God’. What inspired the track and can you please describe the creative process.
My life inspired the track. There’s been many positive and negative instances where I said “Dear God”. It began as a poem three years ago and finally turned into a song this year when I heard the beat. The creative process was slow. This song grew as my experiences grew.
What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?
My dream collab would be probably Tupac or Michael Jackson.
Everyone experiences good days and bad days, as a musician, when you have a bad day, what motivates you to keep moving and look ahead to the future?
When I have a bad day I just remember that after every storm there’s a rainbow. Nothing good lasts forever and on the same spectrum nothing bad lasts forever. I just trust myself, my hard work and my talent.
Throughout your musical career, have you experienced any ‘wow’ moments? Those moments that you stop to reflect and can’t believe you are where you are?
The real ‘wow’ moments have come on this tour, which is my first headline tour. It’s the ability to actually sell tickets. Having someone physically show up to see you perform is amazing.
In your own opinion, what is the most meaningful song you wrote? What makes you say that one?
Dear God for sure. I feel like it’s timeless and that will always be relevant. It will never go out of style and is super relatable.
What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?
Fuck with the people who fuck with you.
What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?
A bunch of new music and big plays. I’m going to be one of the most impactful artists ever.
