Heavily influenced by 90s pop divas and old-school R&B: Introducing Toronto-born singer-songwriter, Nix

Nix combines art, story, and song in perfect unison, singing from her heart and soul. Born and raised in Toronto, and having been heavily influenced by Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Aretha Franklin, her voice reflects old and new sounds of pop and R&B.

With a rich musical upbringing that included singing in numerous secular, sacred and jazz choral ensembles, and studying the classical violin for 10 years, music consumed her. As a young teen, Nix became a published poet after winning a poetry competition, thus inspiring her to fuse her innate writing and vocal talents.

Playing With Fire won a bronze Global Music Award for Best Pop Song, has been recognized as a Semi-Finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest and Music City SongStar competition, and was featured in MTV’s hit show “Ghosted.”

Nix has been sonically compared to Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande, and says her sound comes from years of listening to different artists she admires and finding her sweet spot between them all.
