One of the UK’s brightest breakout names in R&B and soul, Manchester-born Pip Millett releases the visuals for ‘Heavenly Mother’ – taken from her recent critically acclaimed second EP Lost in June.
The controlled temper of ‘Heavenly Mother’ gets the visual treatment via long-time collaborator, director KC Locke (Aitch, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran) who fills the screen with soft neons and pastels that create a mature, cinematic haze to envelop Pip’s musings on family, friendship and loyalty. There’s a Moonlight-esque quality to his grading that fits Pip’s haughty mood perfectly.
With a breakout COLORS performance of her debut release ‘Make Me Cry’ establishing Pip as a unique new voice, her debut EP ‘Do Well’ arrived in June last year, and the young star has been building an enviable reputation across both sides of the Atlantic ever since, with the likes of THE FADER, i-D and WONDERLAND all proclaiming a potent new force. Meanwhile Pip has picked up support across BBC R1 and 1Xtra – her unique style and ability to address heavyweight topics at only 22 marking her out as a precocious and stunningly talented new name (including a certain Jorja Smith, who continues to champion her).
With two headline shows in Manchester and London selling out in just ten days, the sense that something very special is destined for this 22 year-old star grows with every new offering.
