Taken from his new self-titled debut EP, ‘Magic Words’ is the new single from rising Canadian rapper Aligo

Cementing himself as a serious one to watch over the past year, Canadian rapper Aligo now drops “Magic Words”, the lead track from his upcoming self-titled debut EP, ‘Aligo’.

The lo-fi hip-hop production from Dan Diggas (Mahalia and SG Lewis), provides the perfect canvas for Aligo to reveal his vulnerability for a love interest. Admitting early inspirations from household names including J Cole, Dave and Kendrick Lamar, Aligo’s storytelling approach and honesty in lyricism brags similarities to those musical legends.

Speaking on the track, Aligo says, “Magic Words brings me back to high school when I used to write raps for girls that I liked. They probably weren’t that good at the time, but I always loved the poetic power of rap and always try to dive into concepts where I can speak directly to women. I also wanted to figure out a way to acknowledge the #MeToo movement and normalize men advocating for women in public.”

Kickstarting his career in Oslo, Norway in 2017, Aligo began to turn heads with his lo-fi single “Fish Love” alongside Kiplemore. Since then, he’s seen fruitful collaborations with Marie Dahlstrøm, J Warner, Linda Diaz, Dan Diggas and plenty others. His unique twist on fusing Hip-Hop and Electronica has seen hype across CLASH, THE LINE OF BEST FIT, EARMILK and NEW WAVE MAGAZINE, as well as receiving placements on Spotify’s ‘Alternative R&B’ and ‘New Music Friday UK’ playlists.

Already garnering support from world renowned brands including Red Bull, Aligo’s listeners across Canada, London and Norway are just another element to his success thus far – demonstrating his star like qualities beyond his hometown. With continuing release plans past his EP release, Aligo is a definite talent to keep your eye on for 2021 and beyond.

‘Aligo’ EP is available now via all major platforms.
