AJIA first burst onto the scene in 2017 with her debut single ‘Real Love’. Met with notable success, the song was named Track of the Week on Westside radio.
Leveraging her growing momentum the singer went on to release her first EP Visions the following year, mixing elements of both vintage ’90s R&B and contemporary soul with neo-soul grooves.
The positive response to the Visions EP saw AJIA marked as one to watch by Mi-Soul radio in 2019 and placed on the global radar including that of US R&B platform ThisisRnB.
This laid the foundation for the success of her sophomore EP Touching The Surface with it’s lead single ‘Sentimental Easing’ being featured on over 300 different playlists. AJIA has also been hard at work building her presence on the performance circuit, gracing stages across the country on the Global Soul/Jazz Cafe tour.
After spending the last year writing and recording new music, South London-based songstress Ajia now shares a slice of the results with a brand new single. Titled ‘Destined For Me’, it effortlessly highlights her gorgeous vocals, and covers themes that many will have experienced already – love, heartbreak, insecurity and everything in between, thus making it the perfect track for a Valentine’s Day release when all you want to do is eat ice cream and dream of your own love story.
When speaking about the new single, Ajia says:
“‘Destined For Me’ is the story of a women no longer waiting for a sign to meet the right guy. Longing for the love that is seen around in movies and the people in the streets. She doesn’t just want the movie fairy tale love but the true love that is destined for her. She still longing for the love even when there might be step backs. Asking the question why me, she is still hopeful for love.”
The track once again showcases the singer’s undeniable talent – after first emerging onto the scene with her debut single ‘Real Love’ which received high acclaim from industry tastemakers, the South Londoner continued her momentum by releasing two EPs.
Having honed her stunningly unique old school R&B and contemporary neo soul sound ever since, she is now ready to make 2022 her year. ‘Destined For Me’ is only the beginning for the gifted artist so stay tuned for much more to come!
