South Central LA cult icon Duckwrth returns to the spotlight with his highly anticipated single, “Had Enough,” a raw and introspective dive into the darker side of indulgence and escapism.
Set against a distinctive blend of glittery funk and alt-rock production, Duckwrth explores the dangerous allure of alcohol and drugs, unearthing the chaos and toxicity that often accompany them. The track captures that pivotal moment where one stands at a crossroads: to continue down a self-destructive path or to seek a more positive way forward.
With over 500 million streams to his name and nearly 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, Duckwrth has amassed a loyal global following that spans music, fashion, film, and TV. Recently appearing in campaigns for both Adidas and Loewe, his latest collaboration with German jewellery brand Vitaly (which launched on 16th August) further solidifies his standing as a multifaceted creative force. He has also become an international influencer, serving as a muse for British design star Bianca Saunders.
The visuals for “Had Enough” depict Duckwrth personifying alcohol as an enticing “brown-eyed demon from the west side,” with his character symbolising the seductive yet destructive nature of addiction. This serves as a metaphor for Duckwrth’s own struggles with his vices and the toll they’ve taken on his personal relationships. Reflecting on the pain he’s caused both himself and others, Duckwrth highlights the emotional impact of substance abuse, stating, “Seeing the pain you inflict on someone else, how it affects them emotionally, the loss of trust—they can’t even be around you. That hurt makes you really want to look inward and better understand yourself.”
Directed by longtime collaborator Alex ‘Grizz’ Loucas, the music video takes viewers on a visceral journey through an afterparty, with Duckwrth delivering a captivating performance as he dances through the seductive pull of temptation. His choreography mirrors the struggle with alcohol, with each movement representing the push and pull of desire and restraint. Duckwrth’s decision to share his personal battles in “Had Enough” is both bold and vulnerable, marking a significant shift from his previously dominant, powerful persona. This release signals a new, more confessional chapter in his career, as he emerges as both a wild storyteller and a reflective young man.
An international touring sensation, Duckwrth’s electrifying performances and unique aesthetic have made him a beacon of individual expression. With critical acclaim from publications like The Guardian and NME, alongside support from outlets such as Hypebeast and A Book Of, Duckwrth has sold out headline shows across the globe. His influence has also earned him spots at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, while seeing him share the stage with superstars such as Billie Eilish, Anderson .Paak, Flying Lotus, and N*E*R*D.
