After making waves with her debut EP Grey, a moody, jazz-infused introduction packed with live instrumentation and emotional depth, Lithuanian singer-songwriter Grete returns with Cry in Colour, a bold and refreshing leap into glossy, R&B-inspired pop. This new project feels like a bright reset: think danceable beats, catchy hooks, and vibrant production that brings a whole new energy to her sound.
Cry in Colour is a complete shift in mood and direction. Where Grey sat in the shadows, Cry in Colour bursts into the light. From funky basslines to slick pop melodies, Grete blends influences like Mary J. Blige, Tove Lo, Beyoncé, and Parcels, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and forward-thinking. There’s a sense of freedom in this EP, and something in it for every kind of listener.
The Singles
Grete’s recent singles have already been making serious noise. Tracks from Cry in Colour have picked up radio play from BBC Introducing Manchester, Amazing Radio, Vibe FM, and stations across her home country, Lithuania. She’s also had coverage from music outlets like Beats Per Minute, Earmilk, Niji, and QHSound, with many calling her one to watch.
SKINNY BONES
This is the funkiest moment on the project – packed with feel-good guitars, sparkly production, and a hook that sticks. It explores frustration and anger, but flips the mood completely with playful, upbeat energy.
JUICE
JUICE brings a groove-heavy, R&B edge to the EP. Built on a smooth bassline and a stripped-down arrangement, it gives Grete’s vocals plenty of room to shine. The track hits its peak in the bridge, a dynamic moment that shows off her control, range, and raw charisma.
DIFFERENT
Before it even dropped, Different caught the attention of BBC Introducing Manchester, with the show’s host praising the track’s elevated sound. It’s a slick mix of modern production and complex harmony, staying true to Grete’s signature vocal style while stepping confidently into new territory.
She has also released a live version of see u more, featuring a piano and string quartet, one week after the EP landed. It’s one more way Grete’s showcasing the full range of her artistry — raw, refined, and unafraid to try something new.
Originally from Lithuania, Grete has been singing since she was just three years old. She got her start in small ensembles and bands, and quickly found herself on some of the country’s biggest stages from national TV competitions and musical theatre to international contests and even the finals of The Voice of Lithuania.
Despite early success, she craved a more personal, creative path. So she made the bold move to the UK, where she recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a degree in Pop Music Vocals. Inspired by artists like The Weeknd, Yebba, and Tove Lo, Grete began developing her own sound, one that mixes old-school soul with new-school pop, all wrapped in thoughtful songwriting and emotional depth.
Her first EP Grey introduced the world to her introspective side. Cry in Colour now reveals her playful, confident, and radiant self. It’s a project that captures transformation musically and personally and proves that Grete is just getting started.
‘Cry in Colour’ is available now via all major platforms.
