Sydney Jo Jackson Returns with Soulful Global Duet ‘Good at Goodbye’

Birmingham-born, London-based soul-funk singer-songwriter Sydney Jo Jackson blends raw storytelling with the grooves and grit of classic soul. With over 4.1 million streams, a playlist reach of 24 million, and more than 50K followers across her socials, Jackson has carved out a sound that is both timeless and boundary-pushing. Her career highlights include topping the ARIA Dance Chart, working with Grammy-winning producers, and sharing the stage with Jools Holland at Abbey Road.

Her latest single, “Good at Goodbye”, is a cross-cultural collaboration uniting three countries in one track: the UK, Indonesia, and Germany. Featuring rising Indonesian vocalist Drey Henuk and produced by Jonas Bauer in Germany, the record captures a modern soul sound with global reach. “Exactly why I wanted this record to happen — it feels global and timeless all at once,” Jackson says.

Written by Jackson, the song tells the story of two lovers caught in a toxic cycle, deeply in love but unable to survive each other. “When I wrote this song, I knew it needed to be a duet, and after hearing Drey sing, I couldn’t imagine anyone else on it,” Jackson reflects on their chance meeting on Bali’s Uluwatu Beach. Blending retro soul with modern pop influences, “Good at Goodbye” is both intimate and expansive, speaking to the universal struggle between love and self-preservation.

The track offers a first glimpse of Jackson’s upcoming EP, No Fixed Abode, due later this year — a project steeped in the textures of ’70s and ’80s soul and funk, elevated by her signature husky vocals and global perspective.

‘Good at Goodbye’ is available now via all major platforms.
