Dyana Nyange

Afrobeats queen Dayna Nyange releases her much anticipated EP, ‘Elo’ featuring the king himself, DaVido. After the success of the title track, Dyana Nyange is back with her warm, bright beats and buttery, rich vocals. An EP that came to fruition after producer Napji hooked up with the songstress one evening, this four track EP is set to become the soundtrack to summer. From a fusion of Bongo Flava, to more traditional Nigerian Afro-pop, ‘Elo’ has proven yet again what Dayna Nyange has to offer for world music.

What inspired you to begin a career in music?

The people who noticed and encouraged the singing skills in me when I was in school inspired me to pursue a career in music. Also, people would call me on different occasions such as graduations, weddings, and birthdays to perform. So, I would like to thank all those who saw the potential in me and helped me through to become who I am today.

What differs you and your sound from other upcoming artists in the music industry?

I am a songwriter, a singer, and I can dance as well. I am blessed to have all necessary skills when it comes to my career. While starting up my whole music journey, I had my own ways of doing my music in all aspects, so I am grateful and thankful to God so far. Even up till this moment, there are still people who have faith in me and my music.

Your much anticipated EP, ‘Elo’ is out now. Can you please describe the creative process and inspiration behind the project?

Elo has been my best experience since I am a Tanzanian, because I was able to have 5 languages in it. Languages such as Igbo, Yoruba, Pigin English, English and Swahili, so this made a lot of people wonder how I was able to have all 5 languages together. It wasn’t easy, but thanks to my team, producer and also my friend, Davido who all made the Elo project a success.

Everyone experiences good days and bad days, as an artist. When you have a bad day, what motivates you to keep moving and look ahead to the future?

Well, so far, there is no career which doesn’t come with its challenges. We all face challenges, but it’s how you cope and solve them that matter. But as for me, I am that type of a person who doesn’t run from their problems. I face them and find solutions for them, no matter how hard it may appear. As a human, you may think in a negative way since it’s never easy, but I always try to stay calm, face it and find solutions that bring about positive change.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

I would advise people who would want to pursue this career that they should bear in mind that nothing comes easy, but it only takes hard work, determination, vision, perseverance, networking and be ready to show up and be in places where it’s happening. And also, stay disciplined, because what people need to understand is that a music career is like any other career that requires discipline.

What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?

First, I would like to thank God for taking me this far on this chosen path. I am humbled and grateful for all that I’ve achieved since I started this journey a few years back. I am happy and proud of how far I have come and the benefits that came with Elo, i.e., an honour being the first East African female artist to work with the big international artist, Davido. So, I would really love to take this opportunity to thank Davido on behalf of my entire team for making this project a success. At the moment, I have plans to work with more different international artists and local artists in the future, and also, preparing myself for a time when I would get nominated for more local and international awards, and also, being featured and recognized as being among the biggest female artists in Africa and worldwide.

Anything else you would like to add?

Well, I would like to thank my fans for always supporting me and my career. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have reached where I am today. So, I love them, and I promise to gift them great works and entertain them more in the future. Also, I would like to thank my management, 3RD BASE Media Company for always being there to support. It has been an incredible journey. We have been working hard, day and night, to ensure that everything comes through, positively, and to achieve our target goals. I know it’s never easy, but they have shown me so much love in my entire journey. And also, to all my friends who were there to support me day and night, I love you all, and also the producers who have worked creatively to make my EP a success.

The producers who worked on my EP are as follows: Mocco Genius – ‘Teketea’, Napji -’Shona’, Mr. T touch – ‘Maujuzi’, Kesh Ofuobi – ‘Elo’ ft Davido. To you all, I am truly humbled and grateful for all the hard work, creativity and love that was put into all of these processes to ensure that my EP is a success.

‘Elo’ is available now via all major platforms.
