Rising star Bavé, known for blending raw emotion with sonic sophistication, has returned with a striking music video for his latest single, “Anima (Think of You),” released via The Satchi Six. Serving as the lead track from his highly anticipated debut album, the song pushes boundaries with its fusion of R&B and soft rock, creating a bold and cinematic listening experience.
The track is a cathartic exploration of obsession and toxic infatuation, with Bavé’s falsetto cutting through layers of power-charged guitars and driving drum breaks. His intricate lyrics lament the consuming intensity of longing, as he confesses, “Please don’t let me in // I couldn’t be your friend,” encapsulating the spiraling emotions of confusion and jealousy.
Complementing the sonic depth, the accompanying music video—helmed by acclaimed director Nicolina Knapp (of Midsommar fame)—delivers a fever dream of stunning visuals. Equal parts gritty and glamorous, the video sees Bavé and a cast of enigmatic characters traversing surreal spaces like jail cells, support groups, and chaotic nightscapes. The performance crescendos into a frantic closing sequence, creating a visceral narrative that amplifies the song’s themes.
Speaking about the single, Bavé explains:
“‘Anima (Think of You)’ delves into the overwhelming nature of unhealthy obsession. It’s about being so consumed by thoughts of someone that reality starts to blur, leaving you trapped in a destructive longing.”
Growing up in Gottsunda, Sweden’s most infamous district, Bavé found solace in music and dance amidst a backdrop of deprivation and limited opportunities. His journey from burning CDs in his childhood bedroom to releasing his debut EP, In Vermouth (2021), has been one of resilience and creative discovery.
After earning Grammis and Manifest Awards for his acclaimed 2022 EP, All Stars Aligned, Bavé spent two transformative years immersed in the underground scenes of London and New York. These experiences helped him refine his craft, leading to a celestial, dystopian sound that ties his Gottsunda roots to broader, universal themes of love, hope, and progress.
With critical acclaim from tastemakers like THE INDEPENDENT, ENFNTS TERRIBLES, and ONES TO WATCH, Bavé is poised to bridge the gap between underground and mainstream European music. “Anima (Think of You)” serves as both a glimpse into his artistry and a statement of his evolution, solidifying his place as one of the most exciting voices to watch as his debut album approaches.
Prepare for a lot more from Bavé—an artist unafraid to push boundaries and redefine the R&B landscape.
