What or who inspired you to begin a career in music?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, so the idea of becoming a musician, especially since I was already surrounded by instruments as I was younger, came really natural to me. I guess it runs in the family! Especially with my dad, he has been my role model through the music industry, as he was once a musician himself. My dad has been there for each and every song, and he has always been such a promoter for me! My inspiration for my actual music? It’s my life.
What differs you and your sound from other artists in the music industry?
No one can do the same thing as me. None of my songs are the same, and each song explores a new genre (I’m quite experimental) My style is bold, young, and loud, not limited to any type of style.
Your new single ‘Monster’ is out now. Can you please describe the creative process and inspiration behind the release?
Monster is about expressing yourself through the alter ego of what society deems as a ‘monster’. It breaks music norms, as it preaches a scary, but empowering sense of becoming and living, as a ‘monster’, speaking my truth and becoming emblematic of my personal power. To me, the message has evolved to exploring ideologies past power and conflict to emotional intelligence. It can be interpreted by the audience as people understanding their version of a ‘monster’ and rising to the pedestal of owning their inner ‘monster’. It is meant to bring out the best version of yourself, with one of the best messages: own it, even it scares people.
Throughout your musical career, have you experienced any ‘wow’ moments?
I appreciate the small victories. For me, summertime, outside, large and loud gigs are the highlights for me, but I know there’s so much more to come! I love the electrifying buzz of connecting with people through your music, seeing them sing the lyrics you wrote. There’s nothing like it, and it makes the nerves worth it.
What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?
Whatever your sound, vibe or inspiration is, try. No one can do the same thing as you, and you have absolutely nothing to lose. Don’t do it for fame, do it because you love music, and want to be the future.
What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?
This is my journey, and I don’t want to rush it. All I can say is that I’m planning on releasing an EP in may, and I’m hoping to do many live gigs globally in the future! I want to explore the world through my music. But for now, I’m keen on spreading my message, and doing more interviews like this!
‘Monster is available now via Spotify and all major platforms.
