For the third consecutive year, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the electrifying atmosphere of City Splash, and let me tell you, it was an experience that surpassed all expectations. With its expansion to become the biggest festival yet, the sheer magnitude of the event was awe-inspiring. This celebration of black culture, with its infectious beats spanning Soca, Garage, UK Rap, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Reggae, along with the tantalizing flavors of Afro-Caribbean cuisine, left an indelible mark on my soul.
The pulsating music that reverberated through the air was an undeniable highlight of the festival, infusing every attendee with an infectious joy. Live performances by extraordinary artists electrified the stage, their talent and passion captivating the crowd. The energetic rhythms moved through the air, compelling everyone to sway, 2 step, gully creep, and simply vibe to the intoxicating beats. The festival showcased an astounding array of musical genres, ensuring that every taste was satisfied. It was a gateway to exploration, allowing attendees to dive into their favorite genres or uncover newfound appreciation for genres they hadn’t explored before. Personally, I found myself falling head over heels for Amapiano after the absolutely mind-blowing set by the one and only Uncle Waffles.

The festival’s culinary offerings were nothing short of a gastronomic delight. The tantalizing aroma emanating from the 75 food traders teased the taste buds and beckoned us closer. The diverse range of cuisines on offer was a testament to the vendors’ dedication and passion for their craft. What impressed me most was the thoughtfulness in providing vegetarian and vegan options, ensuring that all festival-goers could savor the true essence of this culinary experience. As a vegan myself, I was overjoyed to find an abundance of mouthwatering options from the majority of the vendors.

Meandering through the stalls was akin to strolling through a bustling Caribbean marketplace, each item telling a unique story of the rich heritage of the islands. Moreover, the warm and inviting atmosphere fostered a sense of community and celebration. It’s worth noting that the festival was noticeably busier compared to previous years, making it feel delightfully crowded. However, this surge in popularity didn’t hinder the fun and excitement. In fact, it only added to the festival’s dynamic energy. I’m thrilled to see City Splash gaining the recognition it deserves, and I can’t wait to witness how it continues to expand and evolve in the coming years.
