Review: City Splash 2022 got bigger and better by putting on a phenomenal festival

By Ebony Williams

On the 29th May, in the heart of South London, City Splash got bigger and better by putting on a phenomenal festival with headliners Mr Eazi, Barrington Levy, Protoje, Kranium, and Stonebwoy, in addition to 51 total other names including Congo Natty, AMARIA BB, Channel One, Khalia, Sister Nancy, Luciano, Heartless Crew, General Levy, Alicai Harley, Earl Sixteen, The Compozers and many more.

This year it was held in its new home in Brockwell Park, Brixton a perfect place to bring all the sounds of premier reggae, dancehall Afrobeats across 6 stages which meant no matter where you were in the festival you’d guarantee to catch a vibe with the 17,200 festival revellers in attendance.

Walking into City Splash evokes the spirit of Notting Hill carnival as soon as you enter, from ground-shaking music from sound systems and stages, smell of Caribbean food & everyone’s joyful spirit.

City Splash told no lies when they stated it was going to be one of the parties of summer, because even after last years festival I wondered how they could top it. However they did! From start to finish it bought sensational performances that had everyone none stop moving and shaking.

For me being a huge foodie I was happy to hear that City Splash collaborated with Black Eats LDN who were on-site with a collection of London’s best African and Caribbean street food vendors! In addition to a HUGE music line-up, festival-goers were able to try everything from traditional jerk chicken to vegan food and also have the access of unrivalled drink vendors, serving rum, locally crafted beers, stouts, and spirits.

City Splash is also a proud to be partnered with Black Minds Matter, a leading UK charity that does vital work in helping Black individuals and families access free mental health services and support.

I say this to everyone, but since attending for the first time last year City Splash is that go to for a dopamine fix and a good day out with your friends, family and children! It is one of the best festivals I have attended and I cannot wait to see what is in store for 2023.

All I’m saying is don’t miss out! 2023 tickets are out now starting from £29.50. Book City Splash 2023 here.
