niina Explores Party Girl Freedom on New Single ‘dream queen’

Lisbon based producer, DJ and vocalist niina returns with ‘dream queen’, a playful, character driven release that blends UK garage with alternative pop and electronic influences. Out now, the single arrives alongside the announcement of her sophomore album, welcome to niinaland, due 4 December 2026.

Following the shimmering, hyperpop infused drum and bass of ‘high by the sea’, niina leans further into the sounds and spirit of the UK underground. Built around a propulsive garage beat, warped synths and her distinctive husky spoken word delivery, ‘dream queen’ is a tongue in cheek ode to the unapologetically free spirited party girl.

Moving between sultry sung vocals and conversational spoken word, niina brings humour and personality to a track that feels both lighthearted and carefully crafted. Its infectious rhythms build towards a funky, danceable chorus, reflecting the unpredictable energy of its central character. With its unmistakably British sensibility, the single evokes the nostalgic appeal of 2000s British youth culture while keeping its sound firmly rooted in the present.

For niina, the character at the heart of the song represents something more than a night out.

“dream queen is about that girl at the party who doesn’t give a fuck. she wakes up, she does what she wants, eats what she wants and lives how she wants. she’s whoever she wakes up as that day and that’s enough, she’s an everything girl. she belongs to only herself and something about her makes you want to do the same.”

That spirit of self ownership runs through niina’s wider creative identity. Beyond the music, she has built an immersive audiovisual world shaped by her desire to bring people together through a shared love of dance music. What began online with her community of ‘niina girls’ has since grown into ‘niina’s love club’, an event series spanning Lisbon and London.

Bringing together artists and cultural talent from both cities, the events offer a more intimate take on the dancefloor, creating room for connection and vulnerability alongside the music. It is an extension of niina’s belief that dance culture can be about human connection as much as the sound itself.

Her journey began with the debut EP 2 high 2 cry in 2021, which surpassed 195,000 streams and helped establish her growing online community. In 2024, her debut album honestly, does this smell off to you? attracted attention from CLASH, WONDERLAND, The Line of Best Fit and NOTION, establishing her as an emerging voice in dance pop.

More recent releases, including ‘skinny dip’, ‘fuck it’ and ‘high by the sea’, have earned praise from NOCTIS, F WORD, DMY, OCULATE UK and MIXTAPE MADNESS, alongside support from BBC Radio 1.

niina has also performed at leading UK venues and festivals, including Printworks, Fabric and Lost Village Festival. Her collaborations span D.O.D, ATRIP, Alison Goldfrapp and Ben Böhmer, alongside a recent remix of Girl Group’s ‘Shut Your Mouth (Sometimes)’. In August, she was named Spotify EQUAL’s Songwriter of the Month, further recognising her growing presence within alternative pop and electronic music.

With ‘dream queen’, niina opens another chapter in a project that extends beyond individual releases. The single sets the tone for welcome to niinaland, an album that promises to take listeners further into her distinctive audiovisual universe, with one more release expected before the full project arrives.

As the world around niina continues to expand, ‘dream queen’ offers a glimpse of an artist embracing individuality, movement and the freedom to become whoever you want to be.

‘dream queen’ is out now, with niina’s sophomore album welcome to niinaland arriving on 4 December 2026.
