KinKai Reunites With ENNY on New Single ‘Again’

Manchester hip hop soul artist KinKai reconnects with ENNY on ‘Again’, the fourth single from his forthcoming debut album Bubblewrapped, out now via ROOT 73 Records.

Produced by longtime collaborator Paya, ‘Again’ brings together hip hop, Afrobeats and live instrumentation on an energetic record centred on repetition, risk and the instinct to keep moving. The track follows KinKai’s appearance on ENNY’s 2021 single ‘Malibu’, marking the latest chapter in a creative relationship that stretches back several years.

At its core, ‘Again’ explores the tension between routine and escape. KinKai reflects on setbacks, taking chances and following instinct, while the repeated refrain captures both the rush of doing what feels right and the feeling that the search for something beyond the everyday never fully disappears.

The song itself began during a writing session at Paya’s home, surrounded by friends and musicians. Unsure where to take the initial idea, KinKai left the beat untouched as the session moved onto another track, ‘Cashmere’. Later that day, after walking to the studio, Paya played the original idea again. Hearing it differently the second time around, KinKai immediately responded with the chorus that would become the foundation of the track.

It was an instinctive beginning for a song built around trusting your impulses.

ENNY’s contribution adds another perspective to the record, extending the themes of independence and pushing beyond restriction. The pair first connected through Paya before collaborating on ‘Malibu’, and their chemistry remains clear on ‘Again’.

“For me, this one was just about expressing myself and feeling free to say anything I felt like. I love working with ENNY and it was a blessing getting back in the booth with her. The beat is an amalgamation of so many genres that we just had to do something with it.”

ENNY adds: “The way this track came about was so organic. KinKai is one of my faves, so it’s awesome that we get to collaborate again. It’s been in the vault for a while, so I’m happy it’s finally out.”

Raised on the outskirts of Manchester, KinKai has developed a sound rooted in jazzy boom bap, neo soul and alternative UK hip hop, drawing from his Jamaican and Sierra Leonean heritage alongside reggae, jazz and hip hop.

His independent catalogue has surpassed 20 million streams across DSPs, with collaborations including Children of Zeus, IAMDDB, Blue Lab Beats, glue70 and ENNY. A Gilles Peterson Future Bubblers alumnus, KinKai has performed at Glastonbury, Parklife, KOKO and The Jazz Cafe, while receiving support from BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Spotify editorial and tastemakers including Majestic Casual, Clash and Complex.

The momentum around Bubblewrapped has continued to build throughout 2026. Recent single ‘Cashmere’ received editorial support across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and SoundCloud, while follow up ‘Rust Bucket’ reached number one on Spotify’s Fresh Finds UK & IE, earning the playlist cover alongside placements on Just Dropped, New Music Friday UK & IE and We Move.

The album’s title provides the foundation for its wider story. Bubble wrap is used to protect things that are fragile, precious or valuable, and across Bubblewrapped, KinKai turns that idea inward, gradually revealing the emotional layers he has used to shield parts of himself from the outside world.

The project considers the point at which protection can become restrictive, when keeping something safe can also mean keeping it hidden. ‘Again’ offers a different side of that journey, capturing KinKai in a more spontaneous space and allowing the moment to dictate where the song goes.

That concept continues into the official video, directed by Dane Buca, which places KinKai and ENNY inside the repetitive environment of an office job. Work, home, repeat becomes the visual backdrop as the pair move through the same mundane cycle, reflecting the song’s desire to break away from routine.

Produced by Paya, who has helmed each of the Bubblewrapped campaign’s singles to date, ‘Again’ continues an album built around live feel production, collaboration and KinKai’s emotionally direct songwriting.

Released via ROOT 73 Records, the label arm of the grassroots organisation behind ENNY and The Silhouettes Project, ‘Again’ also forms part of a wider commitment to championing alternative UK artists while reinvesting in free studio access and creative opportunities for young people.

Bubblewrapped follows in November, with ‘Again’ offering another glimpse into an album that finds KinKai gradually stepping beyond the boundaries he has built around himself.
