What or who inspired you to begin a career in music?

Honestly, I never thought I could ever actually pursue a career in music so it was never on my mind but when I first started posting covers on Instagram and TikTok, I had thousands of people everyday telling me they wanted to hear me make some music. Today, I’m only where I am doing what I love because of everyone who has supported my journey. I do it for and because of the listeners.

What differs you and your sound from other artists in the music industry?

I think some artists in the industry are very focused on sticking to one genre and I differ from those artists because I like doing them all haha. When I go into a session, I don’t like having a specific genre of song I want to create. I always kind of go with the flow and in a way let the song write itself and let it take its own direction. I’m always down to do something slow and soulful to something upbeat and happy. Anything floats my boat!

Your new single, ‘You’ is out now. Can you please describe the creative process and inspiration behind the release?

I wrote this song with my good friend and producer Oscar Neidhardt about 2 years ago. I wanted to kind of portray a story about being with someone who can push your buttons and push you past your limits but at the end of it all, it’s still them that you want.

Take everything you know and everything you think you know out of the equation because when it comes to them, you know nothing. I think a lot of people have felt this way because I know I and a lot of friends I know have been with someone who has you under some kind of spell. There’s a certain kind of danger with this person that brings excitement to your life because your brain is telling you to go but your heart wants to stay. In a way, the song is more about a battle with your inner thoughts/wants vs a battle with the significant other.

In your own opinion, what is the most meaningful song you wrote? What makes you say that one?

That’s a tough question! I think every song I’ve written has a great deal of significance to them but if I had to pick one, LILA would have to be the most meaningful. LILA is pretty much staged as a love song but I have always interpreted it as more of me getting lost in the sauce of LA. Los Angeles is a place where it’s very easy to lose your way and lose sight of what you were there for in the first place. I definitely saw a shift in focus in myself when I moved to LA so generally, the song is about being lost in a place that doesn’t help you find your way back.

Throughout your musical career, have you experienced any ‘wow’ moments?

Becoming verified on my Instagram and TikTok have both been ‘wow’ moments for me. I guess it’s not something super crazy to some people haha but I just remember when, where, and the feeling I got when I found out.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

I’ve always said that the most important thing is to just be yourself! Don’t be shy & don’t hold back on your ideas. Some of my craziest ideas that I never wanted to share with anyone have been some of my best. Some of them have been bad ideas but that happens too! Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from succeeding.

What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?

I hardly like to think of the future because I think I already have a hard time taking things slow and being in the present haha but I’d hope to start touring very soon. Maybe it won’t be as soon as I hope, but performing for people has always been a passion of mine and seeing people connect with my music in real life would be a dream come true.

‘You’ is available now via all major platforms.
