Izza Gara dismantles female objectification on 00’s-inspired single ‘Favour’

Channeling 00’s Electro, Pop and R&B sounds into a seamless euphoric single, Swedish Grammy-nominated newcomer Izza Gara returns with “Favour”. Harnessed with nostalgia, the genre-blending trailblazer is gearing supporters up for her forthcoming EP, ‘Superbia Hardcore’. Posing as a taste of what’s yet to come, Izza has previously collaborated with Jerry Folk, Figtape, and Berlin-based Moritz as well as press support from Planet Rave, Fresh Finds and COLORS.

Climbing a male-dominated industry, Izza Gara confronts the ongoing derogative attitude that can often be pushed upon women. Forming a discussion many will relate to, Gara decides to take control of the narrative; playing into several stereotypes including admiration for big pearls, the sound of the birds and lingerie, whilst simultaneously standing up for what’s right. Exploring feelings of resentment throughout the second verse, “Favour” exudes female empowerment via a soundscape bursting with nostalgia. Paired with a set of correlating visuals, Izza Gara is on a mission to re-write the rules for a new generation of artists.

When asked what inspired “Favour” Izza stated,

“Favor is subversive in the way it plays on a stereotype I sometimes find myself reduced to. When women are fashionable, kind, and welcoming baddies, they can often be perceived as shallow or unintelligent, usually by men. That’s been difficult to navigate in an industry still largely dominated by powerful men. So I decided to lean into it: “I’m in your favor” I’ll do or be whatever you need me to be, just listen to the music. Being objectified hurts, but turning that experience on its head with satire was actually fun. For me, it’s about taking control of the narrative.”

Izza Gara is one of the most dynamic voices emerging from Sweden’s contemporary electronic scene. Born and raised in Gothenburg with Turkish/Swedish roots, her artistic journey began early, shaped by the vibrant underground dance community. Growing up on MTV and early 2000s music videos, she developed an obsession for Popping and Hip-hop, laying the foundation for the movement driven performances she’s known for today.

In her late teens, Izza expanded her creative world through painting and exhibiting her work at cultural venues around Gothenburg. Her high school studies in design continue to influence her approach to her art, balancing emotional depth with structure and visual intent.

Now based in Stockholm, Izza stands out in the alternative electro/dance scene for her soft, expressive vocals, stripped-down and playful production and genre-blending beats.

Her 2023 EP ‘YOUNG’ signaled a stylistic evolution, followed by international collaborations with artists like Jerry Folk, Figtape, and Berlin-based Moritz. Throughout 2024, her presence grew both at home and abroad leading into a Swedish Grammy nomination in 2025. A few months later also a Norwegian Spellemann for her contribution on Jerry Folks EP recognizing her growing impact on the Nordic music scene.

She’s performed at festivals like BY:LARM, CYME Festival, and Jungfrukällarn, and on stages including Nefertiti, Plan B, and Slaktkyrkan. With rotation on Swedish national radio P3 and playlists such as Planet Rave, Fresh Finds, and COLORS’ Weekly Releases, Izza now prepares to release her most personal project yet: ‘Superbia Hardcore’, a six-track EP fully written and produced by the artist herself.
