The talented R&B artist Tamara continues her musical adventure into the new year with expectations of a big 2024. After the successful launch of her debut EP ‘Perks of a Wild Heart’ last year, Tamara is determined to take her career to new heights in 2024, starting of the new year with her new single ‘E’.

What or who inspired you to begin a career in music?

Music has been an escape for me since I was very young, it inspired me and I’ve found so much peace in making music. The fact that I got to create something without expectations really spoke to me.

What differs you and your sound from other artists in the music industry?

Uh! This is a hard question. I think besides how my voice sound – especially in Denmark and on the Faroe Islands, that not a lot of artists are doing the kind of music I do. R&B is a really big genre and very broad, and I really try to explore all sides of the genre, which (I HOPE) makes my music and sound stand out.

Your latest release, ‘E’ is out now via all major platforms. Can you please describe the creative process and inspiration behind the project?

I was feeling very angry with the world at the time I wrote it, and still am. This made me want to write about my frustrations and that’s kind of how ‘E’ was born. For me, ‘E’ is a song that explores the contrast between the intense feelings of wanting to please everyone around you while forgetting yourself. It’s a song that suggest a desire to break free, take a chance and eat the apple from the Garden of Eden and follow your own path, even if it seems hard sometimes. I hope people can resonate with the song.

In your own opinion, what is the most meaningful song you wrote? What makes you say that one?

I think the most meaningful song I ever wrote is the track ‘Come Rest’, which was on my debut EP. It is the most meaningful song I’ve made. As cliché as it sounds it is a love song to my younger self. A song about accepting the past and giving yourself the love you deserve and often tend to forget. I often have a tendency to seek love from others when, in principle, I have the love I primarily need inside myself.

How do you handle the balance between artistic expression and connecting with your audience?

Everything’s a process and so I’m still trying to master this one. I consistently aim to base my approach on what I personally enjoy the most when attending concerts. This way, I try to ‘invite’ the audience into my own world and in a sense break down the barrier that can sometimes separate the artist from the audience.

Can you share a memorable or defining moment in your career so far?

When I stood on the stage at the Danish venue Vega, at their biggest scene and heard everyone sing along to my song ‘Follow Me’, it truly moved me a lot. It was a huge reminder of why I love what I do. And just all the recognition I have received lately. It’s just so wonderful to be acknowledged in what you love to do/ It is a huge milestone to be recognized in what you love to do.

What advice would you give to aspiring singer-songwriters who are just starting their musical journey?

One thing I try to tell myself and wish someone had told me sooner is to remember that nothing is final. You are constantly evolving so take everything in rather than overthinking it too much. Enjoy the process and remember, every journey is different.

What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?

Hopefully the future holds a more room for me to keep exploring my musical identity. I’m playing VEGA’s Chosen Ones on Jan 26th and 27th and going on a small tour in Denmark afterwards. I’m also playing Spot Festival in May and hoping to play more shows in the summer. I’m also diving into my debut album, which I hope to release later this year.

‘E’ is available now via all major platforms.
