Rising North London rapper and creative Chri$DaPrince drops his hotly-anticipated EP ‘Black Is Black’

Showcasing a rare lyrical talent that portrays real-life hardships and the perils of a young Black creative in London, the Congolese-born artist has delivered an intoxicating record that transcends any expectation of contemporary UK rap. From hip-hop and jazz, to drill and everything in between, Black Is Black elevates the grit associated with inner-city life and the precarious circumstances that have shaped the emcee’s artistry today. A captivating and fully-formed body of work, Chri$DaPrince’s sharp, potent new EP will continue the attention around him as a formidable name in the UK landscape.

Experimenting with an array of unconventional sounds, the record opens with “HOW LOVE HURTS” – a soulful track laced with spacey samples and sharp percussive textures, as his conscious raps discuss poetic justice when resurfacing against past adversity and the vigorous journey towards self-recognition. Swiftly transitioning to his latest high-octane release “ENVIOUS”, the artist manoeuvres through trap-heavy sonics backed by cold, melodic cadence, setting pace for the rest of an EP that illustrates his flair and deeper penmanship.

Further notables include “DREAMERS DREAM”, “GOD IS GANGSTA” and “MINE’S IS OURS”, where we see Chri$DaPrince at his most effortless. Exploring thrilling tales of growth, hope and resilience against the pressures experienced as a Black artist on the rise. The young talent delivers sleek lyrics that shine with authenticity. Fuelling some of the most powerful and progressive bars that have come to the underground spotlight, Chri$’s deep-rooted influence at street level and visionary conviction are clear markers of a growing talent.

From his home town of Edmonton, Chri$ has steadily built a following completely independently across the underground scene. Early collaborations with House Of Pharaohs affiliate BlazeYL on “Sweepers” (350K streams) catapulted the young talent’s addictive raps into the spotlight. His ability to carve out complex spaces gained swift co-signs from UK favourite Kojey Radical and a key support slot with international superstar Kelvyn Colt.

Having recently cut his teeth with an incendiary performance across the acclaimed music platform PLUS. MINUS. EQUALS. and amassing critical tastemaker support from the likes of COMPLEX UK, TRENCH MAGAZINE and GRM DAILY, Chri$DaPrince’s unique perspective and unrestrained self-expression set him as one of the most exciting and innovative rappers emerging across London.
