Alternative R&B/Soul singer-songwriter hailing from the South West of England, Ace cultivated an early fascination with music in all its forms, shaping him into a “genre-fluid” artist. Embarking on his musical journey, Ace initially entered the industry as a top-line writer with Warner Chappell Music Group. However, in 2021, he independently unveiled his inaugural solo project, ‘Moments’. Since then, Ace has solidified his sonic identity, drawing comparisons to esteemed artists such as Giveon, Kwabs, Sampha, and even John Legend.

The trajectory appears promising for this emerging artist, having recently earned a place in the MOBO Unsung Class of 2023—an annual competition honouring exceptional up-and-coming Black musicians. Notable past recipients include Tiana Major 9 and Tione Wayne, positioning Ace as a prospective MOBO Award recipient.

Ace’s most recent release, ‘Make Sure’, seamlessly blends 90s R&B lyricism with a contemporary drill-infused production—a vibrant addition to R&B/Drill/Pop playlists. A catchy party anthem, the track showcases Ace’s unique musical blend.

Discussing the creative process, Ace reveals:

“I penned the song during lockdown and debuted it on a TikTok livestream talent show for the band WSTRN. Their encouragement led to its release, and now, a few years later, we’re here. ‘Make Sure’ has consistently been a crowd-pleaser during my live performances. I’ve been teasing the song’s release for quite some time.”

The essence of ‘Make Sure’ lies in expressing unapologetic, genuine feelings towards someone special. According to Ace, the song encourages listeners to throw everything at the object of their affection, metaphorically speaking. The track, while delving into the realm of a love song, maintains a light-hearted and easy-listening quality, refusing to take itself too seriously.

For Ace, blending a traditional R&B love song with a drill-infused track serves a purpose—to coax the “bad man” referenced by J-Hus in his song into hitting the dance floor.
