Angel Wong Blends Pop, Dance and Brazilian Rhythms on New Single ‘Know That’

London based cross genre pop artist Angel Wong returns with her latest single Know That, an energetic and emotionally layered release that arrives on Friday 21st August 2026. Independently released, the track combines catchy pop songwriting with dancefloor energy, creating a late summer sound that balances emotional tension with an irresistible sense of movement.

At the heart of Know That is a perspective that is rarely given the same attention in breakup songs. Rather than focusing on the person left behind, Angel Wong tells the story from the viewpoint of the person choosing to walk away. The decision to end a relationship does not necessarily mean escaping heartbreak, and the track explores the guilt, resentment and disappointment that can accompany being the one who leaves.

There is a deliberate twist within the songwriting. On the surface, the lyrics appear confessional and self critical, but beneath them sits a sharper sense of sarcasm and barely concealed exhaustion. The result is a song that can feel bittersweet and vulnerable one moment before revealing its playful edge the next.

Musically, Know That pushes Angel’s genre spanning approach further, combining contemporary commercial pop with Brazilian rhythms and Latin pop influences. The production gives the track an infectious groove, while inspirations from artists including Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth and f(x) can be felt within its melodic and rhythmic direction.

The release follows Angel’s previous single North of the River, which arrived in July and offered a pop funk take on social posturing. The track received praise from LOUDWOMEN, who highlighted its combination of Red Hot Chili Peppers inspired guitar lines and the playful synth pop energy of Chappell Roan. Niji Magazine also named Angel one of London’s most exciting emerging pop artists.

Her debut single Hide n Seek, released in May 2026, established the foundations for her emerging sound, earning praise from TuneFountain as “a strong first impression” with “an instinct for scale that feels sweeping, sleek and emotionally charged.”

That ability to combine accessible songwriting with a broader musical perspective comes naturally to Angel Wong. With roots in Hong Kong and the Miao culture of Guizhou, her creative identity has been shaped by a diverse musical journey that has taken her from London’s jazz circuit to performances at the EFG London Jazz Festival and collaborations with Grammy winning artists.

While her current music sits firmly within the world of contemporary pop, Angel’s background gives her songwriting an added sense of depth and musicality. Her songs move comfortably between genres without losing sight of the hook, allowing her to explore more complex emotions while maintaining an accessible and engaging sound.

With Know That, Angel Wong continues to establish her own space within London’s emerging pop scene. Emotionally honest but never afraid to have fun with the subject matter, the track captures an artist who understands that heartbreak does not always have to sound miserable. Sometimes, walking away hurts too, and sometimes the best way through it is to turn the volume up and dance.
