What inspired you to begin a career in music?

I’ve been writing songs for other artists for a while now. It was going through that process of being a songwriter first and gaining that experience that made me want share of music of my own.

What differs you and your sound from other upcoming artists in the music industry?

I think I stand out because I’ve created my own, unique sound by blending elements from the songs I grew up listening to with the artists I love today. My family’s Mexican roots and growing up in Texas is a big part of my identity, it’s who I am and where I came from, so my music is all about blending my past and my future. I listened to a lot of Latin music growing up like Shakira, but I also love hip hop and rap.

Your latest release ‘Ground Control’ feat. Jon Z is out now. Can you please describe the creative process and explain the meaning behind the single?

The song is about being balanced and keeping myself grounded as a person. I love Jon Z and when I got in the studio with him, I knew this would be the perfect song for us to do together, he always brings the vibes!

Everyone experiences good days and bad days, as a musician, when you have a bad day, what motivates you to keep moving and look ahead to the future?

Music helps me in getting the emotions out. Whatever I’m going through, I’ll bring it to the studio and create something from it.

In your own opinion, what is the most meaningful song you wrote? What makes you say that one?

‘Suicide Down’ was a crazy one – I used to listen to Lil Gotit all the time and having him feature on the record was super dope. That song is all about where I’m going from here and it was sick having Gotit involved.

Throughout your musical career, have you experienced any ‘wow’ moments? Those moments that you stop to reflect and can’t believe you are where you are?

Working with Metro Boomin – that was a crazy time – he’s such an amazing producer. Facetiming Travis Scott and his team was pretty cool, too.

What is the importance of the connections you make? How can you utilize them?

It’s all about perspective. Getting to work with other artists and writing with them to now being an artist myself and having them around me has been a dope journey.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

Believe in yourself and try to look at every situation in a positive way.

What does the foreseeable future hold for you as an artist?

Whatever God’s plan is!
