‘Innocence’ is the new R&B infused single from emerging singer-songwriter Tommie

Despite being a relatively new act, Tommie has got his sound penned down. His unique offering is a melting pot of R&B and hip-hop, tinged with a vintage sound and executed through his own unique lens.

Hailing from Gloucester, he found his love for music at 10 years old, when his sister gave him her old Bluetooth MP3 player, and he soon found himself immersed in urban music from the 90s. His time spent in his youth refining his musical palette which has helped him develop his skills as an artist, with a string of releases set to come out this year, ‘Innocence’ is his latest offering and a showcase of what’s to come.

‘Innocence’ features minimal, but driving drums that proudly nod to the 90s, creating a strong foundation. Saxophone and synth lines ebb and flow between each other providing a silky smooth edge to the track that melts nicely with the beat. His vocal is the stand out feature of his sound, it’s raw, sometimes shy but always packed with emotion, as his tone paints a picture of his well-penned lyrics.

Speaking about the track, Tommie says:

“The problem with putting someone on a pedestal is that it’s not sustainable. Humans are flawed and need grace. This song comes from a place of self reflection, accountability and humility. We have a habit of projecting our own issues and insecurities onto others. How can we trust someone to not make mistakes if we know we are making them ourselves and will probably continue to. Knowing that my closet needs rearranging, how am I supposed to believe in yours?”

It’s not very often you hear a new artist’s material that possesses such musical quality, but Tommie has it in abundance. With this in mind and a strong aesthetic, we can’t wait to see where Tommie will take this.

‘Innocence’ is available now via all major platforms.
