Following the release of her highly acclaimed EP Luvr, Inglewood superstar Amindi drops a vibrant music video for lead track “Kisses” – via EQT Recordings.
Paired with a stunning visual displaying intimacy and self-assurance, Amindi delivers a soulful vocal performance across “Kisses”; balancing tender harmonies with hazy, trip-hop textures produced by Jacob Olofsson. Opening complex pockets for her to reminisce on a fading relationship, the young artist battles sultry temptations to reconnect – “I could hit him [up] if I want, you gon be mad when I’m gone // You knew it couldn’t last long”, she utters while staying strong in her pursuit of true passion.
Already earning significant attention across the landscape from WONDERLAND and ROLLING STONE to SPOTIFY’s ‘New Music Friday’, Luvr EP marks a richer, more multi-layered sound and expressive chapter in Amindi’s artistic journey. Exploring her feminine affirmations while gaining knowledge in studio sessions alongside GRAMMY-nominated creative Rogét Chahayed (Kali Uchis, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Doja Cat), Amindi continues to blossom as one of the most exciting and refreshing young talents emanating from LA right now.
Growing up in the vibrant spaces of Inglewood, California, Amindi was exposed to some of the most powerful influences across music, fashion and community; from frequent trips to Jamaican clubs and late-night jam sessions with her Father to discovering key musical inspirations including TDE and The Strokes, Amindi’s natural reflex for story-telling shines through every aspect of her complex artistry.
Experimenting with GarageBand in high school quickly led to the release of her 2017 smash hit “Pine and Ginger” (watch) with Tessellated and Valleyz – a breakthrough record which gained well over 23M streams on Spotify alone and an explosive remix from dancehall pioneers Popcaan and Kranium. Following a stream of infectious singles, Amindi would later drop her debut EP nice in 2021, presenting her exploration of self-love and resilience before featuring on “All Herb” across Isaiah Rashad’s highly acclaimed album The House Is Burning.
Last year saw Amindi unleash her blossoming debut mixtape Take What You Need, serving as a deeper expansion of her creative journey while gaining powerful introspection from some of the most culturally resonant artists in the US; from Jordan Ward and Frex to Kenny Mason and acclaimed producer monte booker adding a timeless gloss to what stands as a significant project for the Jamaican heritage artist.
Entering 2024 as one of PIGEONS & PLANES ‘Artists To Watch’, the rising talent earned serious stripes following support slots with Ghanaian-American superstar Amaarae and a debut performance at Coachella, all building towards the release of Take What You Need and Then Some earlier in May. The deluxe version was instantly met with critical acclaim from CLASH, COLORSXSTUDIOS and RINSE FM all proclaiming a standout global talent flourishing in authenticity.
Trailblazing a new path in the US landscape, Amindi’s dream-like sounds set exciting levels as she becomes a serious prospect on the verge of mainstream realisation.
