‘Control’ is the final instalment in the lead up to her debut EP. Performing alongside the likes of Stormzy, Etta Bond and The Jacksons, DEJA is known for delivering a soul-baring vocal with an energy and attitude that gets the crowd moving.
‘Control’ stands in line with previous release ‘ted talk’ illuminating DEJA’s signature sass and infectious charm; bold in her delivery and stylish in her execution. The track is a vibrant reminder of this budding artists capability to stand amongst fellow female risers such as Pip Millett, Kali Claire, JGrrey and Lion Babe.
Speaking on the track, DEJA explains; “Corey K and I were discussing an alternate reality where women were and always had been the ones in power. For me, a recurring topic of conversation is the power of a woman; emotional, sexual, physical. Corey lay down a beat and these lyrics came to mind. “Get money, I’m good with it. Come ‘n let me show you what to do with it.”

‘Control’ is the second and final instalment taken from her debut EP ‘INTRO’ set for release this December. The ‘INTRO’ EP is a colourful combination of playful lyricism, innovative production and vocal versatility; a soulful antidote to cure the summer blues. The EP lays down the foundations for what can be considered an impressive introduction to DEJA’s musical journey and for what can be paved as she progresses into 2021.
Originally from Solihull, Birmingham, DEJA now resides in West London to pursue her career in music. Having grown up surrounded by a family of music enthusiasts, the singer has cherished music for as long as she can remember, sourcing inspiration from a variety of RnB and Soul icons including Stevie Wonder, Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah and Usher from a young age.
Beginning her journey at 14, DEJA began singing, writing and performing as well as taking to stages for her school talent shows – music was a second language for this bourgeoning artist from the very beginning.
Now in her 20’s and having crafted her sound in to her distinct brand of Pop infused RnB, DEJA has gained the recognition of The Jacksons, Emeli Sandé, Macklemore, Etta Bond and Ady Suleiman to name a few, having been personally selected to open their shows on the basis of her undisputable talent.
2020 sees the release of DEJA’s debut EP ‘INTRO’ and the fiery introduction to the exponential potential in this artist.
