Introducing: ‘Realise’ is the latest R&B Neo-Soul infused release from emerging singer-songwriter and producer Georgia Chanel

Georgia Chanel is a London based, West-Midlands born singer, songwriter and producer. Her sound yields a fusion of R&B and jazz that marries catchy hooks to entice the listener.

Hailing from a quaint, tiny village on the edge of Staffordshire and growing up within green pastures and national trust forests, Georgia wasted no time in discovering her musicality. Having joined a band in high school, she had already played the 02 Academy in Birmingham by 16 years old. After studying Musical Theatre at Birmingham Ormiston Academy (linked with the Brit School), the versatile performer felt it was time to shift her focus primarily to music and therefore moved to London aged 18. Since then she has been on a musical journey, honing her sound and developing her writing skills.

Georgia Chanel’s first single Audrey Hepburn came out on the 14th February and was premiered on the A-List for Brum Radio. Audrey Hepburn can be described as a harmonic explosion over a Kaytranada style beat which begins with a sample of Audrey Hepburn talking in one of her renowned films ‘Sabrina’. The jazz R&B infused track received glowing reviews and was described as “straight serotonin” by Parys Wyatt (Critiques by SwanoDown.

Georgia Chanel’s second single Realise is another R&B Neo-Soul infused track that could be interpreted as a similar sound to Erykah Badu’s Green Eyes but with a modern spin. Though taking a slower tempo, the tracks chill vibe feels somewhat empowering as Chanel takes the opportunity to fully showcase her vocal range against the synths and saxophone. The raw emotion of her voice takes the listener through a whirlwind of emotions whilst telling he story of letting someone close to you who may not have the best intentions, whilst simultaneously juxtaposing the colourful guitar licks and uplifting melody of the chorus.
