This song focuses on bragging about that special someone, reflecting the modern dating world. ‘Moonlight’ is sensual and fun, conveying the wave of emotions that comes with building a romance.

Initially starting as a freestyle, this song quickly took shape with the development of the catchy hook. The track was fully recorded and mixed at Rush Studios in Caldwell, NJ., known for mixing ‘Into the Spiderverse’.

With an official music video in the works, this is not the last we have heard of M.I.T.R.A.E and ‘Moonlight’.

New Jersey-born M.I.T.R.A.E (Money Is The Root of All Evil) is a unique and diverse Hip Hop artist, engineer, and producer whose influences range from newer generation artists like Ski Mask the Slump God and Tyler The Creator, to his childhood favorites like Michael Jackson and Ne-Yo.

Since his debut release in 2019, M.I.T.R.A.E has gone on to release music with his group Chop Boyz, who continue to grow their brand and produce high-quality content.

When they say this track had a catchy hook, they knew what they were talking about. Though basic in its construction and composition, the chorus will certainly be bouncing around your head hours after you’ve turned ‘Moonlight’ off.

If this is your first experience with M.I.T.R.A.E and/or Mercury Monet, you will no doubt agree that these young artists have the potential to be huge in today’s urban music scene. In this track alone, Monet’s beautiful, rhythmic, and sensual vocals complement the rapper’s flow expertly, creating something that could easily be seen near the apex of the top 40.

If areas for improvement need be noted, they would be simply that M.I.T.R.A.E could have used a bit more volume on his vocals, as there are a couple occasions where he is overwhelmed by the instrumental, though the production of the song was exquisite.

Secondly, the lyrical content. While the track began its conception as a freestyle, I think M.I.T.R.A.E could have certainly flushed the song out a little, adding a bit more depth to the array of experiences one goes through when dating in the current era.

Lastly, was the length of the song. While I don’t think I have written this in a review prior to now, the song was not long enough. I feel as if I was just starting to get into it and then it comes to an end, leaving me wanting more! But perhaps that was by design.

One thing is for certain, if you like fun, catchy, slow jams, ‘Moonlight’ is for you. It’s recommended that you check out more of both M.I.T.R.A.E and Mercury Monet, as I agree that this is not the last we have heard from either of them.

‘Moonlight’ is available now via all major platforms.
