In ’28,’ Aleks Grey endeavours to encapsulate the essence of growing older. For so long, one dwells within their twenties, but suddenly, the looming spectre of the big 30 approaches. There’s a profound disparity in the stages of life everyone finds themselves in; some are still engrossed in their studies, some have recently acquired a modest flat, while others have established careers, children, spacious abodes, weddings, and more. The companions you assumed would journey through life with you have drifted apart. Former partners have found new beaus, and whether for better or worse, reaching the age of 28 is not as you had envisioned.
Aleks Grey has garnered airtime and recognition on radio stations, both in his native Norway and internationally. He has received positive acclaim in global magazines and blogs. In 2022, he released the single ‘Five Minutes’ with Iselin (the vocalist in Alan Walker’s ‘Faded’). The track received national radio exposure on Norway’s largest radio channel and generated substantial press coverage. They were featured in a prominent radio show in Norway and garnered attention from the international blog, Alfitude.
Aleks’s EP, ‘Souls,’ was nominated as “The Best Solo Record of The Year” by LMS in England and was among the top 25 indie albums of 2015 according to the American magazine Jammerzine. In 2016, he was honoured with The Song Link Award for his single ‘Unstoppable,’ a track also featured on a BBC Radio 4 programme.
Aleks has performed extensively throughout Norway and hosted numerous concerts in Germany. With his band, he graced the airwaves of BBC Meyerside and delivered a double session for the United Kingdom’s largest youth magazine, The Student Pocket Guide.
