After taking a short hiatus to work on her new EP, Jamilah is back with a perfect start to our 2024. Her first offering from the highly anticipated project comes in the form of ‘Crystal’. A Futuristic and Fierce R&B anthem that is going to carry us through summer. Complete with heavy 808s, epic synths and her alluring sultry tone, the latest single takes us on a journey of passion and fire, making us want to sing along at the top of our lungs.
When speaking on the track, she said:
“It was important for me to take some time out last year to really work on my new material, so that when I was ready to share it, I knew it was the best of me. I initially recorded ‘Crystal’ a decade ago, but the files were lost and I thought there was no getting it back. When I started working on this project, I knew I had to find a way to do just that. I worked with an incredible team here at home, who recreated the beat and made me love it even more. When I recorded it, I knew it was even bigger and better than the original. It was time! The record is something that I know will resonate with every single person that hears it. It’s made even that much sweeter as my beautiful 7 year old niece Sadia is dropping gems in the intro! Music is a window to the soul and we are all human beings who live through many shared experiences.
‘Crystal’ touches on just one of them. I’ve never had as much fun recording a record, as I did with this one. I got to channel a different version of myself, which you can hear in the vocals. I loved bringing the sass and the attitude in the booth. I’m so grateful for the gift that I’ve been given and I always want to have fun with it. Experiment with my sound, push myself and keep giving you all something different to take in, with every release. I really hope you love ‘Crystal’ as much as I have all these years and I can’t wait to share the rest of this project with you later this year. I’m talking about real things, real issues, real moments, real situations. You’ve got an all access pass to my diary!”
