Hot on the heels of their latest smash hit ‘COCO’, Kent-based rap collective OuttaCity — consisting of two local rap legends OC LEE and Nick Notes – return to the soundsphere with their captivating new offering ‘Timberlake’.
In-form Kent-natives OC LEE and Nick Notes continue to showcase their unique lyrical ability and captivating penmanship, joining forces for their second offering as OuttaCity collective with “Timberlake”. Taking inspiration from Netflix’s acclaimed TV series Breaking Bad, the pair cook up an enthralling track and visuals to match — showcasing the duo’s undeniable creativity and ability to conjure up some of the most forward-thinking rap music to come out of the capital.
Speaking on the track, OuttaCity state: “This one here is a message to everyone out there pillow talking their way to nowhere! Letting them know we are still progressing! When you come from a small place sometimes there can be a Crabs in a Bucket type of mentality. ‘Timberlake’ is about answering the critics, telling people we can see through them and letting them know that we are happy for them but not to take the kindness for weakness!”
On the visuals, the pair explain: “The video is also reference to people saying that Nick and Lee have amazing Chemistry together when in the studio! We’re always cooking up in the lab and creating magic, so we wanted to show that.”
Growing up in Kent, OC LEE is now veteran of the game having created music since the age of 13. Renowned for his early rise under the guise of ‘LAW’, the esteemed MC quickly built up a reputation as one of the best spitters in Kent and builds on his legacy with close friend Nick Notes. Also surrounding himself with music from a young age, Nick takes influence from a plethora of genres including R&B, Grime and Hip-Hop — demonstrating his unique flair and smooth bars. Over the years, both artists have run into personal issues but are now fully focussed on producing some of the most exciting UK hip hop to come out of Kent.
Standing strong since 2012, OuttaCity demonstrates that the UK hip hop scene is well and truly alive outside of the London bubble, as OC LEE and Nick Notes prepare to push the outer boundaries and set speakers alight with their straight heat. Dubbed as two of the most exciting UK rap artists to come through right now, 2022 is set to be a milestone year for the Kent collective as they continue to garner a huge amount of attention.
