What or who inspired you to begin a career in music?

My Dad was a music head he lots of cd’s and vinyl’s. Some of the artists in his collection included Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, all4one, boyz2men, Mariah Carey, Bobby Brown and R Kelly – obviously he wasn’t cancelled yet.

I used to mimic these artists as I sang their songs as a 10 or 11 year old kid. I also used to dance which I started around the age of 2. But the artist that made me connect the dots and helped me see myself was Usher Raymond IV. See myself as a singer, as a dancer, as an entertainer. I didn’t have to stick to a genre because he did pop and R&B and dance.

What differs you and your sound from other artists in the music industry?

In today’s climate We have a lot of good artists but we don’t have a lot great performer. Especially amongst UK guys. Maybe only 5 come to mind. I am a showman, on stage is where I come alive and where I am the most confident. If I am enjoying performing the song to you and giving you everything, I got that day. That feeling will live with you forever. That is how I felt when I saw Usher, Beyonce and Brandy live. That’s one thing that I believe is a leverage. In terms of my sound whether you are listening to ‘Mine’ or ‘Everything’ or ‘Living in the Moment’ all different records but there is consistent vibe. It is wavey whether I am giving you pop, R&B, afro I bring the vibes.

Your latest release ‘Living in the Moment’ is out now. Can you please describe the creative process and inspiration behind the project?

The first session was literally a conversation just literally talking about someone I was seeing. How fresh and new and exciting it was. But on the hand, I had no expectations of where it needed to go. I wrote and recorded the song with Derek formally known as Asher Grey. Who is talented songwriter, vocalist, arranger. That conversation birthed the song “it’s loving on the go where to we never know, that won’t stop the full speed train we climb”

The recording process was definitely long he pushed me vocally he made do takes again and again and again until it was a take that wanted. But I am so grateful now that the song is what it is.

Throughout your musical career, have you experienced any ‘wow’ moments?

There has been a few, being on the radio for the first time. Going to a school and one of the students cried because she was so overwhelmed. When a non-verbal child at a meet and greet gripped hand and wouldn’t let go. Being on stage and people in the audience know the words to my songs. Getting dm’s asking for merch. When my song ‘Everything’ came out the support that I had and the song had was all over whelming for me. All these and more have been “Wow” moments.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

It is hard and you have to give it everything, you have to live, breath and sleep it. All you need is one person to believe in you and that should start with the person in the mirror.
